Song of Ice and Fire- Winterfell

I'm going to do something a little different in this post. For one, I am going to spread the cast over many postings, as there are simply too many characters to post at once. The posts will instead be separated by region. For example, this post will be cast the Starks and Winterfell. The next will be King's Landing. This will allow each post to be a reasonable length. Also, I will not go into individual books. These casts are for the series as a whole.

In light of the pending pilot on HBO, I will also provide the actors who have officially been cast for the show. This isn't to judge how many I get "right", but to offer a professional opinion. There's no way that the cast I present would work. This is a dream cast and no film company would ever front the budget that the stars in my cast would require. And just for fun, I'll throw in an artist's rendition of each character, when I can find one. On to Winterfell....

House Stark is the principal noble house in the North; many lesser houses are sworn to them. Their seat is Winterfell. Their sigil is a grey direwolf on a field of white, and their house motto, referred to in-universe as their words, are "Winter Is Coming."

The Starks are descended from Brandon the Builder, a legendary figure from the Age of Heroes thousands of years in the past, who built Winterfell and the Wall. They were Kings of Winter in the North from the Age of Heroes beginning with Bran the Builder until Torrhen Stark submitted to Aegon the Conqueror at the end of the War of Conquest. Since that time the Starks have held the North for the kings of Westeros as Lords of Winterfell and Wardens of the North.

The Dragon Reborn

"Jordan continues his Wheel of Time saga (after The Eye of the World and The Great Hunt ). Three thousand years ago the Dragon led the male mages of the world into entrapping the Dark One, but the cost was high: all male mages, then and thereafter, were driven mad. Now the Dark One is breaking free, and the only salvation may come through Rand al'Thor who may be a reincarnation of the Dragon and who must obtain the sword Callandor, held in the city of Tear. All of Rand's companions from the previous books find themselves, willing or not, moving toward Tear for a confrontation with evil traps. Jordan's fast and absorbing adventure novel will keep the reader too entranced to worry about plot inconsistencies, numerous coincidences, lack of character development and Rand's inexplicably infrequent appearances.
